KPJ系列是捲筒供電電動平車,以電纜捲筒交流380V供電。電纜捲筒為磁滯耦合式,確保電纜受力均勻不易拉壞。交流380V給平車上YZ起重冶金用電機提供電力,電機拖動平車運行。平車運行時電纜捲筒自動將電纜捲起或放出,受卷線筒供電長度影響,一般最大運行距離小於200m。
KPD系列是36V單相(三相)低壓軌道供電電動平車,以軌道滑觸線供電。地面降壓變壓器控制櫃將單相(三相)交流380V降壓至單相(三相)36V,經軌道滑觸線饋送給平車,再經車載升壓變壓器升壓為單相(三相)交流380V。給平車用單相電容電機提供電力(三相時為YZ起重冶金用電機)。由於不用電纜,故安全可靠、不怕燙,不怕砸,不妨礙交叉運輸,易實現遙控和自動化,給廠區運輸布置以很大方便。但其軌道施工要求較高,須保證軌道絕緣,超過一定的運行距離時軌道應加銅排補償線。運行距離較長時還必須增加降壓變壓器個數。
由於KPD 平車起動時流經軌道的起動電流非常大(達1000A),此時軌道末端有很大的電壓降,造成單相電容電機起動困難,故單相KPD平車最大載重噸位為50噸,載重50噸以上時採用三相36V低壓軌道供電,YZ起重冶金用電機。
產品KPDZ既繼承了KPD平車的優點又避免了原型號起動困難,運行距離短的缺點。KPDZ平車以車載整流裝置將軌道上的單相(或三相)交流36V整流成直流36V,拖動直流牽引電機使平車運行,直流電機與交流電機相比有不易燒損,起動力矩大,過載能力強的優點。即使由於軌道絕緣老化等原因,在欠壓的工況下仍能可靠工作。
