怪石，是构成黄山胜景的又一“绝”。在黄山到处都可以看到奇形怪异的岩石，这些怪石的模样儿千差万别，有的像人，有的像物，有的有的反映了某些神话传说和历史故事，都活灵活现，生动有趣。在121处名石中，知名度更高一些的有“飞来石”、“仙人下棋”、“喜鹊登梅”、“猴子观海”、“仙人晒靴”、“蓬莱三岛”、“金鸡叫天门”等。这些怪石有的是庞然大物，有的奇巧玲珑；有的独立成景，有的是几个组合或同奇松巧妙结合成景。还些怪石因为观赏位置和角度变了，模样儿也就有了变化，成了一石二景，如“金鸡叫天门”又叫“五老上天都”，“喜鹊登梅”又叫“仙人指路”就是移步换景的缘故。 在位于狮子峰前，一只可爱、活泼的猴子独踞峰顶。从远处看，我还以为一只真猴在峰顶静观云海起伏呢！走近一看，原来是一只石猴，它仿佛在静观云海起伏，当云海散去是，石猴仿佛有在观望太平县的秀丽风景。所以“猴子观海”又名“猴子望太平”。
在温泉到汤岭的路上有一座巨大的石头斜立在那儿，上面刻这“醉石”两个字。传说唐代大诗人李白曾在这饮酒听泉、乐而忘返！因此得名：醉石。
在玉屏峰西侧，还有一座望夫石，它的形状好像少妇立足石台，盼望丈夫早日归来，因此得名：望夫石。
在耕云峰上的一座巧石，一只活泼逗人的小松鼠，拖着蓬松的大尾巴，想越过万丈深渊，跃上高耸入云的天都峰。名字大家可想而知，那就是――“松鼠跳天都”。我看了这些怪石，心中不禁想：究竟黄山的怪石是自然形成的，还是人工制造的呢？
